Photo of Mars taken by NASA’s Curiosity rover.

NASA has been releasing pictures since early August, when Curiosity landed on Mars. The first color photo, which was released on Aug. 7, had a hazy, poor quality, because the dust cover was coated with fine debris.
The high-resolution images include 360-degree color panoramas as well as animated GIFs.

Artefacts by Mark Fitz

An ongoing series being developed for the creative spark exhibition in June 2012. Artefacts is an experiment with landscape and abstraction, formalism and colour. Artefacts explores the dynamic between geometric abstraction and tangible reality. Through the use of rigid geometry, bold colour and a forced perspective, it is unclear whether the shapes that appear within the scene are even part of the landscape at all. The primary colours red, yellow and blue, at odds with their surroundings, invoke a jarring sensation for the viewer, challenging them to consider the relationship of the abstract and the real.
